So you started a blog and want to make life-changing money. But your blog is not growing. Well, sometimes it just doesn’t quite go according to plan.

Because just because you have a website and some blog articles written doesn’t mean that you’re going to have a successful blog.

When it comes to blogging, adamenfroy basically made every mistake in the blog. You know he started on square space, he wrote random articles without much of a strategy.

Adamenfroy tried to monetize with Adsense way too early, and he didn’t even form an LLC or a business bank account until nine months after was making money. The list goes on and on.

So, in this blog, adamenfroy going to cover the top five reasons that your blog is not growing. And exactly what you need to do to alter your course and make money with your blog once and for all. Let’s get into the topic for today.

So let me just preface this by saying that all of these top five reasons that your blog isn’t growing. These are things that adamenfroy actually did on mistakes that he has made.

So going through this process and learning all of these things has helped my blog grow. But I’m human I’ve made mistakes just like everybody else. So, let’s get into it.

1. Focusing on the outputs, not the inputs.


Number one for me is focusing on the outputs, not the inputs. So when it comes to blogging, there are tons of interesting things that we can look at and waste our time on. Google Analytics traffic, views, affiliate income, and ad revenue.

But if you focus too much on the outputs and not the actual work on the inputs you’re never going to find success. So in a lot of videos, we talk about content and links, content and links, and content and links.

And how those are the inputs that you need to focus on to get to monetization. But sometimes we want to make money right away.

We want to join Adsense too soon. We want to do all of those things. And I remember you know when I first started my blog and it was like maybe you know three or four months old it wasn’t getting much traffic yet. And I was constantly checking analytics.

I remember I was driving to work in the morning and I had like the google analytics app on my phone.

But I would see like oh I got nine visitors today. Before work that’s cool.

It’s slowly getting higher and higher. But it’s like you can get bogged down in this data forever. And then I realized I did it with youtube.

I started checking all my youtube views and getting you to know 3,00,000 views a month. And then social and all the social comments.

And it’s like you can really just focus so much on all the data that you’re just not actually working on the business.


So first of all we need to make sure that we’re actually working on the business. Focusing on the inputs, which is basically getting down and starting writing content or building links. Those are the two things you need to be doing.

You need to either be in front of an article writing it or writing a brief for a writer you know if you’re outsourcing. Or making you know linked-in messages and emails for link building.

So those are the things you need to do you need to focus on the inputs of your business, actually running a content-driven business. Not just focusing on the outputs and things that you expect to happen.

2. You haven’t done link building yet.

The second reason why your blog isn’t growing is that you haven’t done link-building yet. So I know link building‘s a little bit uncomfortable.

But I hear from a lot of students that say, you know I have 50 articles on my blog and I’m making no money, or I have 30 articles or 100 articles and I’m not making any money.

Well here’s the truth, if you don’t have any links to your blog yet and your domain rating and domain authority are zero, or even five or ten. It’s gonna be really hard to rank for content that actually makes you money.

Because when it comes to blogging there are two ranking factors:


Which is basically your authority. So when you look at the entire internet like the world wide web as a spider web and you start a new blog you’re basically on the very very edge of this web with no links pointing to you, no one connected to you, and google is not going to trust you.

So you need to build some links to your site. So if you’re uncomfortable with that, basically you need to start doing it. So you build a linked-in account. Start doing some outreach. Trying to just get your name out there in your niche.

Making connections, and making real relationships is what it is. This isn’t some tactic where you’re just going to spam 100 people and ask for stuff. This is a relationship-building tactic and you can watch another video on my channel to understand exactly how to do just that.

3. You don’t have a content system.


The third reason your blog isn’t growing is that you don’t have a content system. So if we’re running a blog we’re running a content-driven business we’re making money from our information and our articles. But if you don’t have a system to do this, then we’re going to be really struggling.

So really what we need here is a systematized way to write content for both search engines and for human beings.

So when I talk about the content assembly line that’s basically how you do it. You start with keyword research. You go you know after one keyword per article. And then you use a tool like a surfer SEO as you write the article.

So that you have all the keys and all the right keywords in the right places you format the h2 and h3 headings in the correct way that google likes them. And then you publish articles in the same exact systematized format as quickly as possible that way you know. We know that not every single article is going to rank.

But we know that if you publish a lot of them, some of them will. So when you publish, you hit publish. And then we have to have a system for this. And that’s potentially updating the article every three to six months if it needs a refresh.

It could be building links to the article based on data. It can be doing these things to creep up the rankings.

Because when you first publish an article it might be on page four, it might be on page eight, it might be on page two. But we need to get that to page one and that takes updates and it takes potentially link building to get there.

So we can’t just publish an article and expect that it’s going to rank on google and make money. Publishing is the first step on the content journey.

So that’s kind of you know the content assembly line process in a nutshell. You also need to realize that don’t worry if you’re not a good writer. That’s another you know common mistake or like this thing you know, I can’t start writing it’s going to be bad, and people are going to judge me.

Well, there are so many tools out there like Grammarly to fix your writing, a surfer to understand exactly what you know how to make the article good for search engines. And then over time, we can then optimize the article for human beings.

So, it’s a process, but if you don’t have a content system in a content process your blog probably isn’t growing as fast as it could.

4. You don’t trust the process.

The fourth reason your blog probably isn’t growing is that you just don’t trust the process and you’re not implementing the strategy aggressively. So you know a lot of people want to start a blog as a hobby or start most of us started on the side of a full-time job.

But if we want to really make you know a content business work we need to create content. So we can’t do like one article every two weeks, or one article a month, and expect to make money.

The minimum is one article a week. That’s the absolute minimum. That I would recommend if you actually want to create this content business.

Because that is 52 articles in a year or over 100 articles in a few years. So it does add up. But the enemy here is perfectionism. I remember when I first started my blog, I wanted everything to be perfect. the very first article I wrote was one on human nature. I spent two weeks writing it. Another week editing it. Making it perfect.

You know going over and over and over and over and then hitting publish. And it was kind of about personal development and guess what no one read it. It didn’t make any money. I made a YouTube video about it.

Because I find the topic interesting. But that’s not how blogging works today. So this is more about your habits than anything else. So are you carving out time on the side of your full-time job?

Yes, if you work in an office and you’re writing on your computer during the day and then you have to go home and work on a blog at night, it’s not ideal.

But I know I did that for seven months where I was basically working full-time and then working on my blog on the side. I didn’t have much of a life because I wanted to build the fastest-growing blog in existence and prove that it was possible.

But I had to develop the habits to actually do that. So that was like really it was mindset stuff. Avoid perfectionism, set aside time in my day to implement this thing, and then trust the process. And that’s where most people fail. They don’t trust the process.

They think well I haven’t found success before so I’m not going to find success now. Or you know I don’t want to work on something for a year without guaranteed results.

Well, that’s why everyone chases 90 days shiny objects and things that they think they can make money in 30 or 60, or 90 days. And that’s not how business works.

5. Your monetization timeline is unrealistic.

The fifth reason your blog isn’t growing is that your monetization timeline is unrealistic. So we’re running a business here, we’re running a content-driven business. I’ve said it, again and again, we’re running a business. So when we think about businesses and how like you know I’ve been at different jobs and we have goals for the business.

So our goals were typically 30/60/90-day goals when you’re first onboarding. But then there’s like quarterly goals and rocks and yearly goals. And we have to have actual realistic expectations and goals for what we’re doing because.

If we lack these expectations or if our expectations are off and we think we’re going to make money with our blog in two weeks, then when that doesn’t happen we’re gonna quit, or we’re gonna feel disheartened.

But the thing is we need to expand the timeline to success and understand that we can break down. You know a yearly plan into manageable monthly goals. So you know in 2019 my blog made two hundred thousand dollars. In 2020 I made 800,000.

The first year was kind of a testing process I was doing consulting, and I was learning about online business. and the first six months I didn’t make a ton of money, but in the second six months, I made a lot more.

And that set me up for year two to keep making more. So with a content-driven business, it’s really about your leverage in the marketplace and trading away you know. Less time for more money and setting yourself up for future success too.


So for example like we need to realize that we’re building like you into the digital marketplace. This isn’t about just joining AdSense and making a little bit of ad revenue we’re trying to rank one affiliate article to make a couple of hundred dollars a month. Yes, that’s possible. Yes, we can do that.

And yes that’s the early wins that we shoot for in order to find. You know the motivation to keep going, but we also need to realize that the opportunities that come into your life will be abundant. If we can really put ourselves out there. So that’s what happened to me you know. I started my blog first two years it was just a blog.

Then by year three at some point, I had started a youtube channel on social media accounts. When I’m on courses and different revenue streams. But I couldn’t have done that at the beginning. You know we have to build it slowly in the background of our life over time.

And when it’s attached to your identity when it’s your personal brand and it’s just at your name it’s like a digital resume. It’s something you won’t quit. So that’s another reason you just have to have a realistic monetization timeline and be focused on the long term, not just the short-term gratification.
